Beginning of a Blog - Welcome to Gingham Lane

I have decided to start this blog to keep track of creative, educational and everyday experiences as a mommy of two boys. I'm hoping to capture memories of my boys' childhood days and to share creative ideas with other moms of toddlers, especially boys. I recently read a quote that said something to the effect of "The days are long, but the years are short." I already know this to be very true. There are some days with busy boys that seem to be longer than 24 hours and others that fly by in the blink of an eye! But, looking back at the 3 1/2 years since my oldest son's birth, I wonder, "Where has the time gone?!" Since this is the beginning of a blog, I'd like to welcome you to Gingham Lane. A bit about the name I chose: I have always loved the pattern of gingham...the simple checks feel nostalgic to me, but also seem to be a classic pattern that will never go out of style. When did my love of gingham start? Childhood, most likely! I remember a favorite Fisher Price "Dolly" that had pink and white gingham. My brother had the matching blue one, "Guy." Looking back at photos, I realized there was also yellow and white gingham in my Winnie-the-Pooh nursery. I also remember going to visit newborn cousins and seeing them in their bassinet that had a padding of red and white gingham. The gingham-lined-basket-like-bassinet seemed so cheery and cozy. It is a pattern that makes me think of happy, childhood days. And, a lane sounds more friendly and neighborly than a plain street or a la-tee-dah avenue, don't you think? So, thanks for stopping by to visit Gingham Lane. Come back to visit any time!
